We are your local family-owned and operated ice cream shop. At Saltwater Scoops, we make all our ice cream onsite in small batches. It is our passion to serve the freshest and best ice cream we possibly can.

Growing up our family enjoyed making our own homemade ice cream, churning it by hand in our old-fashioned ice cream maker. If you are familiar with this process then you know, although tedious, the results are well worth the wait. In trying a lot of very good ice cream over the years, we realized that nothing compared to the quality and taste of what we were accustomed to when we made our own.

Fast forward about 30 years and Saltwater Scoops homemade ice cream was born. Our name comes from the process of using our old hand crank ice cream maker. In making hand-cranked ice cream, you add a mixture of rock salt and crushed ice to the outer part of the ice cream maker. The ice melts down to properly freeze the ice cream. In the end, all that is left in the outer tub is saltwater. Yes, times have changed since we were churning it by hand, but our process of making it onsite and using the finest local and freshest ingredients remains the same.

Our family loves serving our homemade ice cream to the local community and those visiting our beautiful area. This is one reason we wanted to be open all year so that our locals and visitors could enjoy our ice cream whenever they wanted.
